Parco Naturale delle Maremma | A7 - From Marina di Alberese to the mouth of the Ombrone

The unspoilt beaches of the Parco Regionale della Maremma stretch along 25 kilometers of protected Tuscan coastline from Principina a Mare to Talamone.

The Maremma Park is one of the most interesting natural areas of Tuscany. Composed in 1975, it covers 9,800 hectares and includes the plain at the mouth of the river Ombrone and the beautiful pine forest limestone ridge of Uccellina, culminating in the 417 meters at Poggio Lecci.

The ring of hiking of river Ombrone (marked trail as number A7) from the parking lot of Marina Alberese returning briefly back on the road and then onto the paved road leading to river. We return along the river and the sea. This puts you through to large expanses marsh covering the final stretch of Ombrone mouth. By the bird Observatory during the excursion you can discover the different species of birds frequenting the wetlands of the park. On the beach you can see the carcasses of trees uprooted by the river during floods and then hurled from the sea where they undergo with processes of calcification.

The Parco Naturale della Maremma stretches 25 km between the mouth of the Ombrone and Talamone. It is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Tuscan Maremma, and the enchanting beaches, where pine trees grow almost to the waterline, are wild and of rare beauty. This area, traversed by the Monti dell'Uccellina mountain range, has been a protected nature reserve covering an area of ??70 km² since 1975. Hiking trails have been laid out in the park to introduce you to the various facets of this unique stretch of coastline. The beach is freely accessible from Marina di Alberese, where the shuttle buses from Alberese also arrive. From here, you can walk along the Spiaggia dei Capanni to the mouth of the Ombrone, or south to Cala del Forno. Naturism is permitted here and is almost a matter of course. The A7 Foce Ombrone trail takes you from Marina di Alberese to the mouth of the Ombrone. Admission tickets are available at the visitor centers in Alberese and Talamone or online.
