Music festival Collegium Vocale Crete Senesi 2017 celebrates Philippe Herreweghe

Collegium Vocale Crete Senesi is an annual music festival under the artistic direction of Philippe Herreweghe in the beautiful region of the Crete Senesi in Tuscany.
2017 promises to be a special year: the year in which artistic director Philippe Herreweghe celebrates its 70 years and in which the world is celebrating the Monteverdi-year (Claudio Monteverdi was born 450 years ago). Special event will be the performance of Claudio Monteverdi’s Vespers by Collegium Vocale Gent and Philippe Herreweghe in the beautiful setting of the Sant’ Anna in Camprena monastery.
The Festival Collegium Vocale Crete Senesi (previous Accademia delle Crete Senesi), was founded by Philippe Herreweghe. 'With a cast of predominantly Belgian performers, the festival testifies to the extraordinary musical talent that has emerged from that small country. In fact, nothing has changed - musicians from the Low Countries have profoundly coloured the soundscape of Italy since the 15th century. Known then as Olrremontani (those from 'over the mountains'), Flemish singers and composers brought to the Italian Renaissance courts their sophisticated vocal polyphony and choral traditions. Herreweghe and his latter-day Oltremontani are continuing a long history of halo-Flemish cultural relations.' [2]
