Montalcino and the terroir of Brunello di Montalcino

Montalcino is located to the west of Pienza, close to the Crete Senesi in Val d'Orcia. It is 42 km from Siena, and only 28 km north of Podere Santa Pia.

Brunello di Montalcino is one of Italy's most famous and prestigious wines. Brunello di Montalcino was among the eight Italian wine producing zones. Brunello di Montalcino is made 100% from Sangiovese. Brunello is the local name for the Sangiovese Grosso clone from which Brunello di Montalcino should be made of. The grapes are grown on the hillside vineyards surrounding Montalcino.

A holiday in Tuscany

This sun-drenched land of Tuscany has become synonymous with the ideal life. But it didn't happen by chance. Since the Etruscans, the independence-loving Tuscans have treated their breathtaking countryside with sagacious respect and built hamlets and hill towns in which they perfected a culture of simplicity, beauty, neighborliness, good food, and love of daily life.

Situated at the southern edge of the Brunello wine-producing area, and midway between Siena and Lago Bolsena, the property could not be better designed and located for a holiday that combines lazy days of dolce far niente with sightseeing in some of the most beautiful areas of southern Tuscany.
